Gallery Scene.....

If you get a chance, check out the new Owen McAuley exhibit at the d Berman gallery. This New York based artist is showcasing a collection of work that shines light on what surround us. Showing us how "the power of a particular place[can] burn an impression on the mind regardless of whether it has any actual importance." Displaying night scenes, McAuley's recreation of artificial light in everyday circumstance is flawless.

Gossip Boys and Girls.....

Last night if you were not at Emo's you missed something truly amazing. Gossip performed with lead singer and Karl Lagerfeld favorite Beth Ditto, belting out hot tracks such as Heavy Cross, Vertical Rhythym, and of course, Men in Love. The encore was a medley of Tina Turner classics which was flawlessly executed by the soulful Ditto, and had her legion of gay followers in a sing-a-long. The band even posed for and with(LOVE you Beth Ditto) yours truly making the night extra special. Check out their latest album 'Music for Men' if you haven't already!

For those of you who know, you're already on it. Otherwise, let me inform you. One of the chicest looks for the fall is houndstooth. Reference the Alexander McQueen Fall 2009 runway show! For a high fashion look match a blouse like this ruffled tank by Central Park West with a larger gauge houndstooth skirt or pants. Add a a pop of patent color at the root, I recommend a primary, such as yellow or red. To bring it to the streets match it with a pair of black skinnys but keep the patent pop to maintain your look. Cental Park West tank available at Peyton's Place, $89.

She's a maniac.....

This fall season leave your old sweats packed in the winter bin and snuggle up in one of these "glisten" looks. Sure, you might be snuggling up with a glass of champagne in a booth at Imperia and not a home with a glass of coco, but you're not wearing these to dance rehearsal either! Simply style it with a pair of leggings and some shoobies(shoe-booties) and you are good to go. For those of you who need a little more excitement think about choosing a pair leggings with a graphic print or in a neon color. With all of the options we have these days I personally would recommend a pair of studded leggings by Louise Goldin.

Look one: gray V-back with black strap; @ Estilo. $138

Look two: cowl neck knit dress; French Conection @ Peyton's Place. $128

Look three: sweater dress with braided neck detail; Gestuz @ Estilo. $195

Look four: chiffon lined cardigan; Elizabeth & James @ Luxe Apothetique. $295 Apothetique.

More from Laguna Gloria.....La Dolce Vita!

La Dolce Vita!!!

Last Thursday at the grounds of the Laguna Gloria Arts Center the theme was Roman Holiday, for the 20th annual La Dolce Vita fundraiser. This great event is thrown every year to benefit the Austin Museum of Art and the Laguna Gloria Art School. With Austin's finest restaurants providing delectable bites and wine vendors from all over the Hill Country offering sips of their finests wines, add some music and about a thousand excited Austinites and you have the recipe for a fantastic evening. This event has maintained it's status as a must on the fall social schedule for twenty years and I hope that it is around for twenty more.

Sundance Channel Preview at Anthropologie

The Sundance Channel previewed its new original series "Man Shops Globe," a new reality show following the global shopping adventures of Anthropologie's buyer-at-large, Keith Johnson. With Johnson nurturing the careers of artists such as Aurelie Alverez, the show celebrates creativity and Johnson takes you along his exciting journeys.
Given the fashionable locale and exclusive setting, Austin's junior fashionistas were out and about sipping wine and enjoying chocolates while skimming through Anthropologie's fashionable finds. If the premiere event is any indication, the buzz surrounding this new series is well-placed, so tune in.
